One of the most sought after investments people look forward to and hopefully make is a personal home. Whether the house is new, or just new to them the desire is to make it their own. This can be accomplished in a number of ways like new floor coverings, new drapes, painting, or any other of the many types of personal touches. Although to often some major necessary and unwanted expenses immediately take center stage. Many of those potential expenses can be detected by a thorough walk thru inspection such as older furnaces, water heaters, water softeners, ect. However one item that is usually left off the list of items checked is the house sewer line. These lines can be inspected with video equipment by licensed reputable plumbing contractors who will indicate the overall condition of the piping from the house to the city main connection. This piping is the direct responsibility of the existing home owner(s) and costs of repair or replacement can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand. These costs should be identified prior to sale or purchase. Many people have been surprised by these costs following their purchase and are either ill equipped or unable to follow through on making the necessary repairs. We encourage both honest sellers, and prospective buyers to know this information prior to any home sale.
